Official Information:

The Finnish Recovery Boiler Committee (FRBC), TAPPI, PACTAC, APPITA and PI are presenting the 2014 International Chemical Recovery Conference (ICRC) in Tampere, Finland. Held every three years since the 1980s, this is the pre-eminent conference in the area of chemical recovery technology in the pulp and paper industry.

2014 will also mark the 50th year of recovery boiler cooperation in Finland and the first time the ICRC has been held in Finland. To celebrate the occasion, a special session will be arranged by the Finnish Recovery Boiler Committee.

The conference will focus on all areas of Chemical Recovery including: environmental quality, improvements in recovery operations, benefits of new technology, and technical descriptions of successful solutions.

The programme of the conference consists topics like:

  • Alternative recovery technologies
  • Biomass energy integration
  • Black liquor combustion modeling
  • Boiler circulation issues
  • Corrosion control in recovery process equipment
  • Emissions
  • Equipment design
  • Evaporator fouling
  • Evaporator retrofits
  • Gasification
  • Industry success stories
  • Lime kilns
  • New technology
  • Non-process element reduction and control
  • Recausticizing & lime kiln improvements
  • Recovery boiler operating improvements
  • Recovery boiler performance and design
  • Recovery boiler fouling
  • Sulfite pulping chemicals recovery

3rd RSC Younger Members Symposium 2014

Topics: Chemical Education, General Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Keywords: early-career, career development, chemistry, networking

Date: /24/ June 2014, Birmingham, United Kingdom, Europe

Web Site, Contact: enquiries@rsc-yms.co.uk

Official Information:

YMS2014 is a one-day event planned by the Royal Society of Chemistry Younger Members Network. Following the huge success of the first (Manchester 2010) and second YMS (Nottingham 2012), the third in the series will be hosted by the University of Birmingham on June 24th 2014. The symposium aims to facilitate the development of young chemists by providing them with the opportunity to present at a national conference, as well as to network specifically with their peers and to find out about the latest advances across the chemical sciences. There will be four parallel sessions held over a full day, covering all aspects of chemistry: Education & Outreach, Organic & Biochemistry, Physical & Analytical and Inorganic & Materials. Each session will have two invited speakers from academia and industry. The speakers will be invited to showcase not only their excellent research, but also their career progression and include a keynote lecture from the RSC President Professor Lesley Yellowlees.
